Check out the "tryout information" tab under this "incoming players" section to find more information about tryouts!

Eligibility:

You are eligible to try out for UNC Women's Club Volleyball if you are an enrolled student in either an undergraduate or graduate program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our teams consist of players of all years in college, and previous varsity players are also eligible, with some exceptions put in place by NCVF on years played and amount of time taken off. For more information, or if you have any questions about this, please contact either Maredith or Allison.

What if I'm a transfer student?

Transfer students of any background are highly encouraged to try out for the team! This past year, we had multiple junior-transfers try out and make our club team, including a couple former Junior College players from the likes of Catawba Valley Community College and Central Carolina Community College. We also welcome other former varsity players from any division or level. Even if none of these describe you, we would love for you to come and try out in the fall!

How competitive is it really?

We do our very best to ensure the competitive nature of the club, while also understanding that college is an extremely busy time. We practice twice a week but strongly encourage players to work out on their own time and participate in sand or intramural volleyball. The Blue Team went into the national tournament ranked 7th in the nation and had multiple tournament wins. The White team also consistently competes and wins against different universities' top teams. The Presidents also spend time outside of practice to ensure competitive drills and scrimmages in practices.

Time commitment

In order to ensure the competitive nature of the club we do ask that everybody plan their schedule around the practice times of Monday and Wednesday from 8:00-10:30pm. Tournament attendance is mandatory, and there are usually about 3-4 a semester, all on Saturdays except for Nationals. We also ask for limited amounts of time committed to fundraising for the club to fund our travel and tournaments. It may seem like a lot, but if you budget your time well it is very doable with a normal class load.

Study Abroad

Please contact Victoria or Maredith prior to tryouts for information if you are planning to study abroad during the 2019-2020 school year.
