Rules

 

Team Entry Fees & Refunds:

The entry fees will be $375 for the first team and $325 for the second team, if accepted.  All payments must be received by February 3rd, 2018, made payable to "UNC Women’s Club Volleyball."  Any team that pays after this date must pay a $50 late fee.  Additionally, a $50 administration fee will be added to any team that is not a member of the NCVF (if permitted entry by the NCVF and host), payable to the NCVF.  The $50 payment will be sent to the NCVF within 5 days at the conclusion of the event.  Any deviation from this payment process must be approved in writing by the NCVF.

 

Teams may withdraw from the event if a request is made in writing at least 21 days before the tournament, by February 3rd, 2018. Refund requests received after this time period will not be granted except for extraordinary cause, as determined within the discretion of the tournament director and the NCVF Women's Committee (e.g., acts of God, dangerous weather conditions, etc.). The hosting school must notify the NCVF Women's Committee of any school that withdraws less than 21 days before the tournament. Such teams may be subject to sanctions. The hosting school is required to provide a full refund within 30 days of written withdrawal.

Rosters:

Every participating team must submit a complete roster, which should be sent to the Women's Committee by February 10, 2018.  Teams will be penalized by a $100 fee, payable to the NCVF, for failure to provide a roster before the deadline.  All rosters will be “frozen” on February 15, 2018.  The NCVF Compliance Committee must approve any roster change.  The NCVF is under no obligation to approve a roster change made after rosters are frozen.  All rosters will be subject to an eligibility check by the NCVF Compliance Committee.  Questions arising during play regarding a team or player’s eligibility will be resolved by the tournament director in consultation with the NCVF.

 

Eligibility/Tournament Rules Statement:

ALL NCVF GOVERNANCE RULES WILL APPLY. Any player or team not in compliance may not participate. Any player or team violating the NCVF Governance Rules are subject to sanction by the NCVF Compliance Committee.

 

 

Playing Format:

Tournament Officials: At least one certified official will be assigned to each match.

Seeding: All tournament seeding with be determined by the NCVF Women's Committee

 

Pool Play Matches: Pool play will consist of best of 3 sets played to 25 points in accord with USAV Domestic Competition Regulations.  The NCVF reserves the right to alter the format.

 

Pools: The NCVF will establish all pools.

 

Bracket Play: The NCVF will determine the bracket format based on number of courts, time, and number of matches played.  Every attempt will be made to guarantee at least 50% of the teams advance to a Gold playoff.  The remaining teams will advance to Silver and Bronze brackets.

Tie Breakers: The NCVF National Championship Model of tie breaker shall be used to determine selection into Gold or Silver brackets.

Warm Up: Warm up for the matches will follow USAV protocols.

Scheduling: Matches will be scheduled every 60 minutes for pool play with a grace period of 5 minutes.  A team not available to start the match 5 minutes after the hour will forfeit the match.  Matches may be moved forward if officials, the tournament director, and both teams agree.
